When the opportunity arose to combine two neighboring apartments in a pre-war building in Manhattan's Flatiron District, the goal was to create a home with more room for art, books, and a lifetime of collecting. Having previously worked together on our Desert Rock 'n' Roll project in Gainesville, Florida, we were thrilled to continue the relationship on an entirely different kind of home. Working alongside Poize Architecture and Gild Renovation, we reimagined the spaces as one cohesive apartment, preserving the charm of the original building while introducing a fresh perspective.

With an extensive contemporary art collection taking center stage, we wanted the interiors to feel interesting without competing for attention. Creamy plaster walls provide a quiet backdrop, while dusty lilac beams, a mustard yellow ceiling, dark wood cabinetry, and touches of chrome and aged brass bring unexpected moments of color and contrast. We mixed vintage finds with contemporary furnishings and custom pieces by New York makers, giving the apartment a sense of history and individuality. The result is a home that feels both minimal and richly layered, with plenty of personality and nothing too precious.
